The real cost
This council bought a cheap pine bollard, but soon found that replacing it was definitely NOT cheap, costing them more than $1000 several times a year.

Stainless Steel
Many people confuse Stainless steel Tube (which is like tinfoil) with Pipe which is impact resistant. A second problem is poor quality imports- beware cheap imports they will cost you dearly and look terrible in no time

Steel Bollards
Historically steel was the most popular choice, but steel is not impact resistant, rigid and unforgiving. A steel Bollard less than 5 mm wall thickness will bend upon impact, scuff, dent (fade and chip if powder coated or painted) - looking unsightly in no time.

Surface Mount
When a surface mount bollard is impacted either the base bends or the bolts rip from the concrete or asphalt. Although often sold as protection against ram raids- if the welding holds the protection is provided by the strength of the base plate and securing bolts

In-ground
If you increase the strength of the bollard, the impact force is then directed toward the footing, and as something's got to give, the footing is dislodged creating a litigation risk and costly repairs - We have a solution

Large footings still get damaged!
By increasing the size of the concrete footing reduces the risk of the footing being dislodged but doesn't stop it from being damaged when impacted- We have a solution.
